National Sports Commission (NSC) was created in December 2006.
A Cabinet Minister is the political head and serves as Chairman of the Commission. The administration of the Commission is headed by a Director-General.The structure of the Commission has been radically transformed from that of the defunct Ministry to enable it perform its mandate effectively.
NSC SIGNS GAMES AGREEMENT WITH CROSS RIVER STATE GOVERNMENT
The Agreement for the 19th National Sports Festival, christened "Paradise Games 2014" has been signed between the National Sports Commission (owners of the Games) and the Cross River State Government (host of the 19th edition of the Games). The Hon. Minister of Sports/Chairman, National Sports Commission & Supervising Minister of the Federal Ministry of Youth Development, Alhaji Bolaji Abdullahi, signed on behalf of the Commission while the Executive Governor of Cross River State, His Excellency, Senator Liyel Imoke, CON signed on behalf of the Cross River State Government.
President Jonathan receives FIFA U-17 Cup from Sports Minister
History was again made on Sunday, November 10, 2013 when the Hon. Minister of Sports/Chairman, National Sports Commission, Alhaji Bolaji Abdullahi, handed over the FIFA U-17 Cup to the Presidential of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, GCFR at the State House, Abuja.
